I refuse to support any social cause whose proponents use disrespect or violence as their means of promotion.
And yes, it can be done. Look at gay marriage. I recall no instances of violence and only rare occurrences of disrespect by the LGBT community during their rallying, parading, publicizing, lobbying, and legal pursuance of their cause. And yet, they got (and continue to get) results. Most believe there is still much to achieve, but their progress is undeniable and earned without disrespecting the country or its patriots, without wearing masks or hoods, and without inciting violence. Good on them.
