Off or On The Hook

Regarding the Bowe Bergdahl sentencing, I have no real opinion as to the outcome being too harsh or too mild.  However, I do wonder at the logic some people employ when forming their opinions.  I've heard many times that Bergdahl should not be punished for his misdeeds because he "suffered enough" during his captivity that resulted from his crime.  By that logic, a drunk driver who cripples an innocent family should not face any repercussions if he himself was injured in the accident.  Hmm...nope.
